Class News, April 27-May 1

Kindergarten

ELA- We will review all sounds and sight words we've learned so far.   


Sounds Learned: /s/, /m/, /r/, /t/, /b/, /n/, /h/, /v/, /k/ (spelled with C), /p/, /g/, /l/, /i/ (short), /k/, /kw/ (spelled with qu), /d/, /z/, /o/ (short), /ks/ (spelled with x), /w/, /e/ (short), /y/

Sight Words Learned: I, see, my, like, a, to, and, go, is, here, have, said, the, play, she

Word Families Learned: -at (hat, sat, bat, mat, rat, etc.), -an (can, man, pan, ran, van, etc.), -it (fit, hit, kit, sit, etc.), -ig (pig, wig, jig, etc.), -ox (fox, box, ox, lox, etc.), -et (get, set, wet, etc.), -en (men, pen, Ben, when, etc.)

Math- We will continue to work on word problems.  Please review your child's math spiral sheets.  They are checked and sent home each day.

4th Grade
  • The ELA test for John Henry will be Friday, May 1st.
  • Students have three tests this week: science, social studies, and ELA.
  • Our class will be completing state testing May 4-8.  Testing will be done each morning.

Kindergarten

ELA- This week we will meet Willy Worm and Edna Elephant. Willy says /w/ and Edna says /e/ (short). We will also practice the sight word play and the -et word family.

Math- We will practice finding missing numbers on a hundred chart, writing addition sentences to match pictures, and counting on.

Math- We will continue to work with numbers to ten, comparing numbers to twenty, and writing addition and subtraction sentences.

  • We will begin studying a narrative non-fiction story about Benjamin Franklin today. The ELA test will be Friday, April 17th. 
  • The end of the third quarter was March 27th. Grades will be sent out this Friday.
