Class News, May 11-15

Kindergarten

ELA- We have learned all the sounds taught in kindergarten, so we will review what we've learned for the remainder of the year. Our sight word for the week is he, and the word family is -ut.


Sounds Learned: /s/, /m/, /r/, /t/, /b/, /n/, /h/, /v/, /k/ (spelled with C), /p/, /g/, /l/, /i/ (short), /k/, /kw/ (spelled with qu), /d/, /z/, /o/ (short), /ks/ (spelled with x), /w/, /e/ (short), /y/, /j/, /u/ (short)

Sight Words Learned: I, see, my, like, a, to, and, go, is, here, have, said, the, play, she, are, he

Word Families Learned: -at (hat, sat, bat, mat, rat, etc.), -an (can, man, pan, ran, van, etc.), -it (fit, hit, kit, sit, etc.), -ig (pig, wig, jig, etc.), -ox (fox, box, ox, lox, etc.), -et (get, set, wet, etc.), -en (men, pen, Ben, when, etc.), -ug (bug, rug, mug, slug, etc.), -ut (but, shut, gut, cut, etc.)

Math- We will continue to work on word problems.  Please review your child's math spiral sheets.  They are checked and sent home each day.

Half Day: May 22nd (Thursday bell schedule)
No School: May 25th
Play Day: June 5th (more details to come, half day)
Kindergarten Promotion Ceremony: June 9th at 10:30am

4th Grade
  • We began our Pop's Bridge unit today.  Because Friday, May 22nd is a half day, the ELA test for this story will be Wednesday, May 20th.    
  • The 4th quarter book report is due Friday, May 22nd!

Kindergarten

ELA- We met Jumping Jill and Umbie Umbrella today.  Jill says /j/ and Umbie says /u/ (short).  We will also practice the sight word are and the -ug word family.
