Class News, Nov. 4-8


Kindergarten

Math
This week we will practice ways to make eight and nine.

ELA
The students will meet Hattie Horse and Andy Apple this week. Hattie says /h/ and Andy says /a/ (short). Students will also learn the sight word a.  On Wednesday we'll read Nat at Bat. This book focuses on the -at word family. Please encourage your child to practice reading this book aloud at home.  A copy will be sent home Wednesday.

Sight Words Learned: I, see, my, like, a

Important Dates
  • $2 Tuesday: Tuesday, Nov. 5th (students are encouraged to donate $2 for the troops)

4th Grade

ELA
The Snowflake: A Water Cycle Story test will be this Friday. A study guide and notes will be posted Wednesday afternoon. 

2nd Qtr. Book Report

  • Reading Log (read a minimum of 30 minutes and write a minimum of three sentences each day)

Kindergarten

Math
We will continue reviewing/learning numbers six to ten. 

ELA
The students will meet Benny Bear this week. Benny says /b/. Students will also learn the sight word like. On Wednesday we'll read Baby Bear's Family.  A copy of this book will be sent home Wednesday.

AMR Visit
Tha ambulance came to visit us last week.  Ben and Jen taught us all about what they do during an emergency.  








4th Grade

ELA
This week we will begin reading The Snowflake, A Water Cycle Story. I will not teach ELA during conference week (kids are released at 12:05 each day), so the ELA test will be given Nov. 8th. 

Conferences
Last week, Mr. Glass sent home a conference information sheet. If you would like to schedule a conference, please contact us this week.  Conference week is Oct. 28th-31st.

2nd Qtr. Book Report
Instead of reading an assigned novel and answering questions each week, students will be required to complete a book report.  Students are allowed to choose their book, but it must be approved by me before they begin their project. Information regarding this project was sent home today.

The kids took the Topic 3 math test today. It'll be sent home later this week. We'll start learning about larger numbers in the coming weeks.  

ELA
The students will meet Tiggy Tiger this week. Tiggy says /t/. Students will also learn the sight word my. On Wednesday we'll read The Birthday Party.  A copy of this book will be sent home Wednesday.

Hollister Fire Department Visit
Firefighters Vince, Matt, and Dennis came to teach us how to be safe in the event of a fire. The kids had so much fun!
