Class News, Jan. 6-10

Welcome back! We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday break!

Kindergarten

Math
This week we will practice the concepts two more, two fewer, and ordering numbers 1-10.

ELA
The students will meet Larry Lion this week. Larry says /l/. Students will learn/review the sight word is.   

It is imparative that your child reads aloud to an adult EVERY day! All it takes is 5-10 minutes of daily practice to greatly improve your child's reading skills.

Sounds Learned: /s/, /m/, /r/, /t/, /b/, /n/, /h/, /a/ (short), /v/, /k/, /p/, /g/, /f/, /l/
Sight Words Learned: I, see, my, like, a, to, and, go, is

Science
We will learn about penguins and germs this week.

  • MLK Jr. Day: Jan. 20th (no school) 
  • Minimum Day: Feb. 14th (Thursday schedule)
  • Presidents' Break: Feb. 17th-21st (no school)
4th Grade

ELA/Social Studies
Today we started reading What Rot! Nature's Mighty Recycler. The ELA test will be given next week. We will also begin writing the rough draft of the mission report this week. Students were also given a copy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Students will be required to read a few chapters each week, and complete questions based on what they read.
